Watch || 3 Movies For Family Night

With all of the content across multiple platforms, finding a movie for family night can be quite the task. However, quantity doesn’t always mean quality. Here are three movies that my family loved and that are safe for the littles to enjoy as well.

King Richard

Summary: A story about Venus and Serena Williams–particularly their father and the vision he had for their lives and his family.

What I liked: This film is beautifully crafted and addresses some of the hard things in life through an earnest and supportive lens. The littles should really see this one.

Cheaper By The Dozen

“Not another remake.” I hear you but this film does not feel like a remake at all! It’s truly incredible and very positive.

Summary: A couple navigates raising a full family of 10 while trying to manage the family business and make a dream come true.

What I liked: This film is less about the hectic shenanigans of a large family and more about the heart of a family.

In less than two hours this film successfully and comically-yet-sincerely explores the following themes. 1. Supporting your spouse in a healthy way. 2. Building a business with integrity. 3. Being black or bi-racial in America.

I promise it’s not another “crappy remake”. Your family really should give this film a fair viewing!

Stream On: Disney+

SPIN

Summary: A young girl named Rhea discovers her passion for creating DJ mixes that blend her South Asian culture with the world around her.

What I liked: This film is nothing like the pre-teen flicks we grew up with. No mean girls, no frenemies. Just supportive friends, a very loving family, a dutiful daughter and a serious celebration of heritage through music, food and color.
